JMI PhD Admission 2025 Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
• 5% relaxation (50% marks) for SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Differently-abled candidates and those who completed a Master’s before September 19, 1991.
• M.Phil. holders with 55% marks can apply for direct PhD admission if their degree aligns with UGC norms.
• Final-year Master’s students can apply but must submit proof of completion before admission.
• Part-time PhD applicants must provide a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer.
• The entrance exam consists of two papers:
  • Paper I (2 hours): 100 multiple-choice questions on research methodology.
  • Paper II (3 hours): Subject-specific questions.
• Candidates must score at least 50% (aggregate) in Paper I & II to qualify for the interview.
• A minimum of 40% marks in the interview are required for final selection.
• Exemptions from the entrance test for UGC/CSIR-JRF, NET, AYUSH-NET, GATE qualifiers, and recognized fellowship holders.
• Teacher fellowship holders (e.g., QIP awardees) need an NOC and a sanctioned study leave letter.
